About
Who writes Saddle & Stick, and why.
I bowhunt deer. I shoot a Mathews Lift X 33, and I'm in my first season hunting from a saddle, crossing over from a hang-on stand.
Why I do it is simple. I love being up high in nature and seeing the day go from grasshoppers chirping in total darkness to animals waking up and moving, and just feeling and seeing mother nature all around me.
Who this site is for
The common-man bowhunter. You might be on a budget, but you're in it for the love of the game. You want to know where your money matters and where it doesn't.
On the gear that matters, I'd rather pay once for something good than keep replacing something cheap. But I'm also cheap with my camo and cheap with my counterweights, so I'm not going to tell you every piece of gear needs to be top shelf. The goal here is to compare gear from the low end to the high end, be honest about the risks of going cheap, and point out the stuff that's safe to save money on.

Safety
Hunting from a tree is dangerous. Stay tethered from the time you leave the ground until you're back on it, follow the manufacturer's instructions for every piece of gear, and follow the regulations where you hunt.
