How we review
The bar for anything that looks like a recommendation on this site.
This is the bar for every article on this site. There are no affiliate links here right now.
1. First-hand notes come first
A review should include something only a user would know: comfort after a long sit, noise on the climb, what rubbed, what would change, approximate weights if measured. Without those notes, a first-hand page waits.
2. No invented experiences
No made-up seasons, hunts, or results. Gear in a comparison that hasn’t been used first-hand is labeled as researched.
3. Specs get checked
Manufacturer weights and dimensions should be checked against the brand’s own materials when cited. Any field measurements will be labeled as such.
4. Disclosures stay visible
If a page can earn a commission, it will say so clearly near the top, not only in a footer. See the affiliate disclosure.
5. No thin catalog pages
This site is not here to mass-produce “best X of 2026” posts from merchant descriptions. Fewer pages with real notes beat a hundred empty ones.
6. Safety and regulations
Nothing on this site is legal advice. Tree-saddle and treestand work is dangerous, use a tether, inspect gear, and follow current regulations where you hunt.
